Some St. Patty's Jazz

This past St. Patrick's Day was a fun one indeed. I have to admit though, I had forgotten it even was St Patty's until Taryn came to pick me up for story hour and everyone was in green. You see, it was also Mason's 11 month mark that day and for some reason I am very anxious for him to make it to his one year mark. For some reason I have it in my head that if I can just get him to his first birthday he'll be all right...Anyway, back to the story. So we started the fun day with a ride in Taryn's new mini van to story hour. (Back seat is VERY spacious and comfortable). All the kids were dressed in green and many of the moms and they were having a lot of fun listening to the stories and music and playing with the bubbles. Mason even started to get in on the fun! That night Rob, Mason and I drove down to Salt Lake. Our first stop was dropping Mason off at Grandma Strong's for a night of fun.We then headed straight for the Energy Solutions Arena for my first Jazz game ever!!! I'm sure many of you are thinking "why were you so excited? You and your family don't do much with sports". This assumption is only half true though. You see there are three and a half teams my mom has followed and supported religiously as long as I can remember: 1) Millard High School teams, 2) BYU football and basketball teams, 1/2) the San Francisco 49's during the Steve Young years, and 3) the Utah Jazz! You see I grew up watching Stockton, Hornacek, and Malone and my mom has stayed true throughout the years. On the outside she may seem like a nice, quiet, cookie-making, quilt-sewing person, but you get her watching the Jazz (or BYU) and she can yell like a sailor. Anyway...I digress again...I was sooooo excited to be going!!! Not only were we going to the game, but we got the tickets from Rob's work so we were going for free and sitting in a box seat with free food and all the diet coke I could ever drink!!! Oh, and we had our own private bathroom! The box seats are between the upper and lower bowl and hang over the lower bowl slightly so it's actually a great view. Here's some footage from the first quarter (the camera doesn't do it justice).

In honor of St. Patrick's the half-time entertainment was a group of girls who River Danced. They had on the most gorgeous costumes and it was so much fun to watch!

The third and fourth quarters of the game were a little more exciting than the first half had been. There were several three-pointers like the one in this next clip.

While watching the game I realized how much I missed watching the Aggies in the Spectrum. I guess it's not something you can understand unless you are a true Aggie fan and have been in there when they are on a roll and everyone is screaming at the top of their lungs. Now that is real entertainment. My final analysis of the evening? Although in my personal opinion professional basketball is not as exciting as college basketball, going to a Jazz game was something new for me; we didn't have to worry about Mason; and all-in-all I had an absolutely fantastic time!!!
