One Wicked-Awesome Weekend!

Got back last night from one of THE. FUNNEST. weekends EVER! And why was it such a fun weekend?

1. The people

Tuachan 002

(plus dad, grandma, grandpa, and Aunt Savannah of course ;) ) The cute girls are my mom’s neighbors. Mason LOVES them. Like, seriously. They were asked multiple times if they were twins (no they are not), and I was asked once how I got four blondes when obviously neither my husband or I are…

2. The shopping at the outlets…with out Mason and Morgan :)!!! Thanks dad and Rob!

3. The swimming pool

4. Eating out

So, they gave my food to someone else, so I got dessert for free :)

5. The hotel and jetted tub in our room (!)

6. TUACHAN!!! This year it was Aladdin. I loved it! Mostly I loved the casting and costuming. I thought Aladdin was cast perfectly- like they had taken him off the Disney movie and somehow turned him into a real boy. (hee hee). He was just plain cute!!! I may have a little crush…I love dimples. ;) The costumes were sparkly and beautiful and fancy and everything a girl loves. Also, usually in a play a character only has one or two costume changes. These people were always changing. The genie was BLUE and hilarious! There was also a magic carpet which “flew” up over the audience and around. I thought the special effects from last years’ Little Mermaid, and sticking to the story were much better than Aladdin, but otherwise it was great. In it’s defense though, I’ve been reading reviews, and apparently there were supposed to be TONS of special effects using water, 3-D screens, etc, but the night we went it was too windy to use any of them. Dang it. Now I feel cheated. I’m going to go again. They did have live camels though…and fireworks- that was awesome!!! I’ll see if I can pull some pictures from Tuachan’s website since we are not allowed to take pics.

Ok. Back to my blog. Oh my heck though. Tuachan is soooo worth the drive and late night!!! It’s a tradition every year for us :)

7. (Saturday) The cabin up Cedar City canyon! Complete with game room and flat screens. haha

8. The lake. Actually, the lake wasn’t all that great because it was muddy and windy and the people who took care of the boats were scary…and we didn’t get to go out on the boats, but it WAS fun to see grandpa show off his rock-skipping skills. (And please note the giant rock Mason is carrying in one picture-and there is a dragonfly on the end of grandpa’s finger in these pictures…he’s not flipping anybody off).

9. The food- especially the s’mores around the campfire :) Except, Morgan didn’t eat a single one… He spent the entire time throwing rocks and other debris into the water pitcher and reciting incantations…

and finally…

10. The drive home. It was beautiful! And a little scary… We took a detour through Cedar Breaks and Brian Head. We had to stop for some deer to cross the road, on a 13 percent grade (not lying…that’s what the sign said) and a horizontal twisty sign (I’m sorry I don’t have pictures to verify, but at that point my good camera’s battery had died and the red camera couldn’t keep up while we were driving. As is evident by the pictures of the cool grey rock tee-pee looking things I really really wanted pictures of…) I highly, highly recommend the drive some time.

All-in-all it was an almost perfect weekend. The only two things that would have…wait, three…made it better are 1) My little Lydia being there. We missed you! And can’t wait to come see you! -- 2) NO WIND! --3) If I could still be there… ;) Otherwise perfect!!!

A Week of Toddler Field Trips

Monday: Was awesome! First, we went to the tire store- a favorite of both my boys. That afternoon we rode the train with our friends the Halls and Johnstons. We rode down to Farmington where there is a fun strip mall and movie theater. I wish I had pictures! AAGGHH! The kids were jumping all over the place because they were so excited to be on the train. haha! I was in too big a hurry to grab a camera before we left, but just know that between the train ride, playing with all the toys in all the stores, and getting ice cream at the end, fun was had by all :)

That night for FHE we did a little yard work-

Wednesday: The morning was spent at story time where we learned about the letter I and insects. That afternoon our fun visiting teachers and very good friends came over. And that night…we got to go shotgun shooting with dad- it was the best!!! It was really so fun and the boys loved watching the shooting and petting the stray dogs ;)

Sunday: Morgan thoroughly enjoyed Music and the Spoken Word today-

Sunday would not be complete with out Mason saying or doing something funny. This morning he greeted me with “How is yo mo-ning, mom?”. I told him I was happy because I was with him. He said, “No you ah sad. You fell on the sidewalk and now yo sad”. Oh. I didn’t realize I had done that…Then he said, “Mom, I make you breakfast”. What are you making me? I asked… “Milk”.

That night he was having a hard time falling to sleep so I went in his room and laid down on his bed with him. He said, “Sing Give said little sweam”. So I did, and he helped. Then I sang “I am a Child of God” and he sang a long. Then I started to sing “I love to see the Temple”. He put his hand on my mouth, and with his final words for the day said, “Shhh mommy. Be quiet. Don’t pick up the poop”. Sage advice Mason…sage advice…
