Friends

Three weeks ago we went with some friends to an amazingly, wickedly, totally awesome bounce house called “Kangaroo Zoo” here in Ogden. Mason and Morgan would have NOTHING to do with the bounce toys for the first 20 minutes we were there. And I’m not sure what caused it, but it was Morgan who finally decided to start climbing up one. I think he had gotten bored. Mason saw his younger brother climbing into one and decided he would not be outdone by his baby brother. He then climbed in and started jumping. THEY LOVED IT! Mason even got brave enough to go down the giant ‘big-person’ slide. I know the picture is blurry; he was just going waaaaay to fast for me to get a good shot. It is honestly the highest slide I have ever seen inside a building.

   

We went to the Treehouse Museum that same night with the same friends.

The next day we had a special visitor come help us feed ducks!

 

And then it happened: that night the boys were soooo boogery (out their eyes, nose, you name it) that we decided to take them to wee-care. Diagnosis? Pink eye and ear infections. Every single one of us was sick at some point over a three week period. I think the last time we went to church as a family in our ward was the 2nd week in February; we’ve just been sick. No friends- no fun. Well…except for the day we went to the park with our other way fun friends Dustin and Laney…hmm..and as I write this I realize that both of our fun friends are “Halls”. Huh. Good name :)

The 2nd half of this week finally saw the end of the sickness. Our same friends called us up to go kite flying this morning. When Mason and Addy saw each other they just started running to each other; Mason yelling “HI! HI! HI!”. I literally have never seen him that excited to see somebody. When they met she gave him a huge hug, and he just sat there grinnin’ from ear to ear. HAHAHAHA! Here are a couple pictures of them flying kites; I was having fun with my photoshop coloring.

   

It was so much fun to see him having so much fun!!! And I have to admit, even though we were sick, that does not mean we did not get out and enjoy the gorgeous 60 degree weather; because we did! I wouldn’t care if it stayed like this forever :) Oh- I’ll post about our fun President’s Day Fillmore trip at a later time.

A Steven’s Family Update :)

Are you all ready for this???

First and most importantly my smiley, wiggley, shreaky little Morgan turned 1 yr old the end of January! So as customary I pause here to list a few things Rob and I have noticed about him;-some likes, dislikes, and unique Morgan things.  But first…I must reminisce with…”"A Year of Morgan"”.

Likes:

• Stuffed Animals!- he loves to bury his face in them and wrestle them and just give them love.
• Signing Time-talk about crack for kids!
• Bathtime-always a favorite at the Stevens’ household
• Food-he is such a great little eater
• Balls-in a room full of toys if there is a small plastic ball he will go for it first.
• His Bottle-heaven help us; I can’t take it away
• Shrieking-he does it quite well…
• Walking-he’s been walking since just before he turned 11 months old.
• Giggling with Mason
• Bubbles: just like Mason :)
• Swings: also just like Mason
• Eating things off the floor

Dislikes:

• Getting his diaper changed
• Getting dressed
• Going to bed
• Not being in eye-sight of mom and dad
• Not being picked up
• Having whatever he just put in his mouth taken out of his mouth
• Getting left at the top of the stairs- he is fully capable of going down the stairs, but he would rather just sit and scream at you to come get him until either you do or he falls.
• So…pretty much anything that limits his mobility or choice of action

It’s funny to watch the differences and similarities between he and Mason. Mason used to sit and do one thing for long periods of time; whether rolling a car around or watching a wheel or being read to. Morgan (unless he is watching Signing Time) will not sit for more than 10 seconds. Morgan will scream at you to pick him up, but then once you do he wants back down again (or he’ll try to grab something that is now in his reach-he just uses me) haha. He is very, very determined to get what he wants. Both he and Mason have a ready laugh and giggle, and they love to encourage each other to do naughty things by giggling and squealing at each other. I am very afraid, and also a little curious as to what kinds of trouble they will get into together in the future…we shall see…

Now on to TRAINS!

There was a model train expo at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy the first Saturday in February, so we went! Thomas the train was there to give rides, and there were HUNDREDS of model trains on display with a variety of sizes, colors, and kinds of trains just going round and round. It was any train lovers dream! There were thousands of people there. It was soooo fun and interesting to see the little two-year old boys and 80 year old men and every age in between all get so excited over a similar item. There were ropes to keep you off of the the trains which were on the ground. They didn’t hold Mason back though. We spent more time keeping him off the trains than anything. We were there for THREE HOURS and Mason wanted to stay longer!!! He could have stayed there all day. He will still say to me out of the blue, “"want to see more trains"”. It was such a fun day! None of the pictures are great, though because there was so much movement and I just have a cheap point at shoot that I can’t adjust shutter speed with…

In other news: Monday Rob was um…playing with one of his toys (ya, we’ll explain it that way) when he jabbed a flat head screw-driver deep into his hand. This resulted in him uttering a word I’ve never heard him say before (I say it all the time, but he doesn’t), and the downstairs up to the kitchen sink looking like a murder crime scene.  (He had punctured a blood vessel). Had it been in any other part of his hand there would have been stitches, but apparently stitches will not stay where his laceration is. I’m just glad he still has his thumb. :)

It’s Party Time!

January was a month of PARTYING! Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I will merely do a few one liners and let the pictures do most of the talking.

The First Party: Aaron, Brit, June, and Logan all came down from Washington for Adam’s farewell. Since June and Morgan both have January birthdays we decided to have a combined “cousin party”. It was awesome! There were bright streamers, m&m pillows, balloons galore, party hats, party blowers and ice cream cake. Most of Rob’s family were able to join us!

A few days later, Mason went to his first ever big-boy birthday party. A friend in the ward was turning four, and his cute mom decorated everything in Lightning McQueen and racing!

It was a big hit with Mason :)

Last weekend we went down to Fillmore just to visit. We LOVE going down there, and this was no exception. Grandma made a yummy chocolate cake with pudding and whip cream. It was divine. As Morgan’s face will attest:

Morgan’s actual birthday was this past Tuesday, January 31st. He made it a whole year under his parents’ watch! What a brave boy! Rob was able to take the day off, so we went down to Salt Lake and went to the Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum. It was AMAZING! There were all these tubes that sucked balls up into the air and wind tunnels, and magnets, and a HELICOPTER! That was Mason’s favorite…or the wind tunnel…he did stay there for a good 30 minutes. Morgan was silent about his favorite part. The mall’s food court is only 50 yrds away too, so getting lunch was easy. They were having a special during the month of January where you could take $12 of a 6 or 12 month pass; in addition just for that day you could put your admission towards a pass so…we were able to buy a 6 month pass for less than what we would have had to pay to go again. Soooo worth it! Mason asks every day if we can go to the “new Treehouse”.

 

On the way back we stopped by Cold Stone for dessert; and Mason (being my son) decided to eat all of my ice cream and then proceed to demand a donut once we got back out into the parking lot. We obliged him.

Some other things we’ve done this month:

1. Build snowmen

2. Sing songs

3. Hang out

    

4. Relax

5. And wear ourselves completely out…

Yep. January was a good month for us :)
