Well, Saturday was the big day; Mason turned one year old!!! We celebrated the occasion with family and friends by having a big BBQ in the back yard. And I mean a BIG BBQ! There were ribs, chicken, hamburgers, hotdogs, and steaks…and that was just the meat. Our families were kind enough to bring chips, drinks, fruit salad, green salad, potato salad, two different kinds of bean salad, some Iraqi chicken rolls, a rice dish, and rolls. To top it all off there were sprinkle cupcakes, white cake, chocolate fudge cake, and ice cream. Whew! That’s a lot of typing to just talk about food. Now on to the important stuff; the people. Grandma and Grandpa Strong and Grandma and Grandpa Day all made the journey. Grandma and Grandpa Strong brought our special Iraqi friends with them! Of course the aunts were there; Julia, Nicole, and Savannah. Our cousins the Days and Berretts also made the trip out. Last of all were our very tall, very fun friends the Harris’s and my and Sav’s friend Kelli. We had such a blast! Everyone had someone to talk to and new friends to meet. Below is a little snap shot of the all the goings on.
This video is of the ever important singing of “Happy Birthday to You”. Rob tried to help Mason blow it out, but he got it all by himself with his nose.
Mason was very excited about the present below. Just in case you can’t tell in the video, it’s a little truck with big wheels. Wheels are kinda his thing. (This one you definitely need sound).
To emphasize the wheels being Mason’s obsession, here is a video of Mason riding in his new wagon from grandparents’ Day. Between grandpa and me we pulled him around in it for several minutes and he didn’t sit down ONCE! He just stood up looking over the edge at the wheels the entire time…silly boy.
Thanks to everyone for such a wonderful time! Granddad and Great Grandma Day we sure missed you; we also missed Grandpa Stevens, Aunt Jean and all of our wonderful family in Washington. We wish so, sooo much you all could have been here. We can’t wait til our next trip to Fillmore and for our next trip to Washington so we can see you all!!!

That is adorable! Don't you just love it when they're excited. Happy Birthday Mason we're sorry we couldn't make it.
